What are Single Plate Wafer Check Valves

Single plate wafer check valves are known as butt check valves, single disc check valves or swing check valves. Single plate check valves are designed to prevent backflow in pipeline installations. They are constructed to fit directly between flanges in accordance with DIN, JIS or ANSI standards.
The single plate butt check valve has a solid body with a thin plate profile in the center that allows it to be set between a set of flanges. It is made in accordance with ASME B16.34. Flanges are intended to connect pipes, valves and various piping devices for the purpose of creating piping systems.
The single plate check valve is held in a central position by flange attachment screws. The number of screws per installation depends on the size of the valve. An O-ring seal is used to protect the valve from external influences. Single plate check valves operate at low pressures. Sizes are available from 1-1/2″ to 6″. The valve helps provide a quick access during cleaning and maintenance work.
The single plate butt check valve is suitable for industrial piping installations used to transport liquids and gaseous fluids. It blocks the fluid to one side of the pipeline within the allowable temperature and working pressure range. They are not suitable for applications in media with solid particles.
Single plate butt check valves, also known as swing type, offer the same performance as swing check valves, but at a lower cost. The normal materials for long single plate butt check valves are stainless steel (CF8/CF8M) and WCB.

What is the difference between double plate and single plate check valves?

Check valves are designed in different types to suit different system applications. Double and single plate check valves are the most common check valves used in system design. Both types of valves serve the same purpose, which is to prevent backflow in the system.

Why do I need a single plate check valve?

The benefits of using a single plate check valve are as follows.

Can you install the check valve horizontally?

In order to create the best flow effect of the check valve, it is important to adhere to the best installation method. A simple error can lead to reduced efficiency, failure to achieve optimal performance, or significant damage to other equipment in the system. Some key points of installation instructions should be kept in mind as follows.
Check the valve surface and O-ring material to ensure there is no contamination before installation.
Ensure that the installed check valve meets the operating requirements, such as pressure category, chemical resistance, pipe size and connection.
Install a straight line at least 5 times the nominal diameter before and after the swing check valve.
The outlet support allows the check valve to have a larger opening angle and higher throughput.
Do not install the valve directly on the flange of the pump.
Avoid pulsation and pressure effects.
If the valve can be opened at the top of the system, vertical throughput is allowed.
The ring screw must be at the top to achieve horizontal throughput.
Swing check valves are placed between two flanges with ring screws. According to the outer diameter of the shell and the inner side of the flange screw, it is installed in its central position.
Please refer to the torque value when tightening the flange screws.
After installation, check the tightness of the connection through pressure inspection.
